Client Responsibility

Appointments

Clients for a regular psychotherapy get a time, which remains the same each week. At the assessment appointment, you will need to be able to give us times when you could attend for a regular weekly appointment.

In order to get the best possible result from your psychoanalytic psychotherapy, you need to be able to keep the regular time in your schedule for the next 18 months or so. Your therapist will commit to your appointment time in a similar manner. The commitment to the appointment is the core nature of psychoanalytic psychotherapy. There are breaks, such as holidays, but the psychotherapist will let you know about these breaks in good time.

We expect you to attend unless you are

  • too ill to come
  • are on a holiday that you have notified us about
  • or have to deal with a sudden emergency which requires you to be elsewhere at the time of your session

Similarly, your therapists will do their best to ensure that they are here for your therapy session.

As regular appointments cannot be used for another person, you have to pay for each session when the therapist is available for you. This includes those you miss for any reason, whether you notify us beforehand or not.

Keeping Us Updated

In order to make sure we can contact you, would you please make sure you inform us if you change your address or telephone number.   If we are not able to contact you, we cannot keep you on our waiting list. You also need to inform us if you are away more than one week for a holiday (or for some other reason) that  you want to remain on the waiting list.

Let us know if the times, when you can attend, change from those we first agreed. If you are unable to accept an appointment, we will keep your name on our waiting list.

If your situation changes while you are on our waiting list and you no longer wish for psychotherapy, please let us know!
