Share Psychotherapy is a charity offering psychoanalytic psychotherapy to clients experiencing often serious mental or emotional distress in Sheffield and the surrounding area. With an established reputation from over 30 years in the field, our mission is “to offer psychotherapy at as low a cost as possible to those who are economically disadvantaged or for other reasons cannot obtain such help elsewhere.” Clients are either funded by the NHS or pay for their own care on a sliding scale according to their means. A range of charitable Trusts and other donors support Share’s activities. Our Christian ethos shapes the values by which services are provided, but does not determine the selection of clients or funders.
Share is now looking for up to 3 new members to join the 5-strong Board of Directors of this recently formed charitable company moving into the second year of its current Business Plan. We have consolidated our financial position by matching staff hours to the funding available, and securing continued occupation of pleasant leased premises within range of the city centre for a reduced rent. However, finance remains an uncertain area of our business as we explore new service developments. So we are particularly seeking financial and business expertise to add to the skills and experience already available to the Share Board, which now include the services of a professional fundraiser.
Each Director takes an interest in specific areas of Share business. With this and monthly Board meetings the commitment to Share is roughly 1 day per month.
